About Illuminations
Marilyn Jenkinson’s approach to design comes from a varied
background of entrepreneurship and the arts. She founded a
consulting business, which served the food industry and found
the factory blueprints the most fascinating part of her work.
This led to becoming a certified kitchen designer and at the
time a registered member of the National Kitchen and Bath
Association while doing kitchen design at Kitchen Kupboard in
Falls Church, Virginia. She served as a Docent at The National
Gallery of Art and is currently an Emeritus Docent with the
Education Department of NGA. Marilyn's love for art history and
her travels to France, Italy, Greece, Great Britain and Mexico
continue to inspire her. This knowledge and experience of the
colors, textures and culture of the world enliven her work and
enrich clients lifestyles. In 1998 Marilyn
began Illuminations Design in order to work more closely with
people to enrich their lives through their surroundings. Her
idea of “Illuminating” someone’s home can be accomplished
through bright ideas about design, color, and light to name a
few. Her experience with business, kitchen design and art
education enriches Marilyn’s service to her clients. She begins
new projects with a view of the “big picture”. Her clients point
out that she combines budgeting experience and perseverance with
creativity. The Illuminations process begins with a team of
competent workrooms, artisans and construction specialists who
work on the common goal of excellence in a timely manner to
complete a design that will work for you and your household
members. She has most recently served clients in the
District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, Arizona
and Illinois.
Marilyn
has served as a judge for the
